Welcome to the official University of Michigan Rivalry Run Against Cancer website.

The 2008 Rivalry Run was a success! The game ball started at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor at 2 AM on Friday, November 21st, and reached Ohio Stadium by 9 AM on Saturday, November 22nd. The ball was presented at "The Horseshoe" and the Ohio St. Alumni Association, before its official delivery to "The Skull Session" in Columbus.

The Michigan chapters are also proud to announce that they have raised over $50,000 for the American Cancer Society and the Coach Carr Cancer Fund! Our thanks go out to everyone involved; such a tremendous donation could not have been reached without your help.

To the left you will find information on the American Cancer Society and the Coach Carr Cancer Fund, as well as upcoming events, media coverage information, the participants, the route, and donation links. Please take time to visit the Sponsors link as well, as we could not hold such an event without the help of our sponsors, including our National Championship Sponsors, BluCard, Pacifica Group, and the James Cancer Hospital, all of which donated over $3,000 to this noble cause.

For more information, please feel free to contact PIKE's Alex Reich (708-288-8837 or alrten@umich.edu) or FIJI's Jeremy Kreisberg (917-886-7737 or kjeremy@umich.edu).

RR

Six years ago, the fraternities of Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) and Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) began two separate relay runs to raise money for the fight against cancer. Last year, the two fraternities joined together to form one united run: The Rivalry Run Against Cancer.

RRCrossing the rivalry lines of one of the fiercest college football contests, The Rivalry Run is a relay run conducted by brothers of the fraternities of Phi Gamma Delta and Pi Kappa Alpha at both The Ohio State University and The University of Michigan. The brothers carry the game ball for the Ohio State vs. Michigan Football Game from the away stadium to the home stadium and deliver the ball to the game. Our mutual commitment covers 187 miles and will take at least 30 hours to complete.

RRThe funds we raise will go directly to The American Cancer Society and the Coach Carr Cancer Fund to support cancer research programs and cancer patient and family care. This is a cause we are very passionate about because of the toll cancer has had on our brothers, our friends, and our brothers’ families.

Our fraternities have worked hard to transform the run from a small fraternity philanthropy event to a leading cancer relief fundraising event. In 2007, The Rivalry Run represented the largest donor at the University of Michigan Relay for Life. Our collective hope is that we will be able to sustain the success of the event and build for the future.
